Plan a visit
Children explore, question, and learn through play. The 8-point curriculum gives teachers a structure for that play, so a morning of building, painting, or pretending also carries new skills and developmental milestones. Families often ask what their child did all day; here the answer is usually something they made, tried, or figured out.
The program is led by Debra Sparks Allison, who holds a BA in Psychology and a Masters in Education. She is a former ballerina, mother, and grandmother. Over 38 years she ran three dance studios, taught as an adjunct professor, and directed a non-profit ballet company.
A 4 to 1 student to teacher ratio lets us give each child the attention a new concept or task demands. Children learn at different rates, so teachers step in with extra support and encouragement, then pull back. Those small successes build a confident, capable child ready for kindergarten.
Teachers measure progress regularly, and report cards go home at the end of each session. Preschool is the foundation for kindergarten and beyond, so the reports cover both social and academic milestones. If you want to know how your child is doing between reports, ask. Teachers will tell you what they are seeing.
The program takes field trips to local farms and parks and outings to local restaurants. There are seasonal celebrations and lessons from visiting professionals. One class watched baby chicks grow day by day in the classroom, then visited the farm that adopted them to see how big they had gotten. Families can ask which trips are planned for the session.

In a preschool morning, children move between play and structured activity. They paint, build, sort, listen to a story, and practice letters and numbers. Teachers join them at the table or on the floor rather than directing from the front of the room. A parent dropping off can expect to see children already busy and a teacher nearby.
